In 2001, Kurt and his sister Jen, followed their passion for health and helping others to create the World Life Health Center. By 2003, they founded the American Power Yoga (APY) system of yoga to bring yoga’s powerful tools to as many people as possible and bridge the paths between yoga and everyday life. APY made the complex principles found in yoga accessible and actionable. Kurt went on to serve as the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders’ official yoga trainer in 2007 to 2011 and created and hosted their MTV yoga DVD winning Fitness Magazine’s yoga dvd award in 2010. Along the way, people kept asking him the same three questions: “What should I do, what should I eat, and what should I take?” His quest for the answer led him into genetics, searching for an approachable solution to making better choices based on individual genetics.
He is passionate about blending the best of the old and new and using wisdom from both the East and the West to empower all to create and live the life they want.
He also trained in Lama Yoga, Needle in the Cotton (Tibetan Tai Chi), Chi Gong, acupuncture, herbology, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Tai Chi Chuan. Kurt has explored many forms of meditation, including lucid dreaming and out-of-body travel. He has also studied Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, and many forms of Christianity.
Aside from his pursuits in business, yoga, and martial arts, Kurt is a father, a husband, and an explorer. Whether he’s diving with sharks in the Blue Hole, hiking Machu Picchu, surfing Costa Rica, or snowboarding the closest snow-covered cap, he is constantly surveying and studying this amazing planet we share. Kurt continues to teach, train, and learn.
